Who are we

Democracy doesn’t move forward unless someone is willing to ask the difficult questions.

Today is a civic media initiative dedicated to exploring the root causes of Georgia’s most pressing challenges — from emigration and inequality to rural neglect. We work to foster public dialogue and elevate the voices of community leaders in order to enable real change.

Vision

Our vision is a Georgia where people-centered politics is shaped by responsible and conscientious leaders and citizens.

Mission

Our mission is to foster the engagement of citizens in Georgia’s towns and villages - as well as those living abroad - by empowering empathetic, responsible, and action-oriented leaders.

Why emigration is a political story

Behind every emigrant is a story of broken systems

More than a million Georgians live abroad—not by choice, but by necessity. Emigration is often seen as a personal decision, but we see it as a political outcome. It’s rooted in economic hardship, a failing healthcare system, and institutional neglect. We believe that by telling these stories, we reveal the deeper cracks in the system—and begin to map out how to fix them.

Reclaiming the village

Georgia is a centralized state, where decisions are made in Tbilisi and opportunities rarely trickle beyond. This imbalance has drained rural regions of both people and potential. But a new generation wants to return—not just to live, but to lead.

At Today, we amplify the voices of those working to revive village life through education, civic action, and innovation. Our mission is to make them visible, and to push for policies that match their ambition.

Rural Georgia is not empty—it’s ignored
